Volvo refreshes almost entire range

Published on 15 May 2008 in Model news:

The 2009 Volvo V50 - like other Volvo's its styling is now in line with the forthcoming new XC60

Volvo has made revisions to the equipment and pricing of almost every car in its range.

Many models get styling changes which bring them into line with the look of the V70, XC70 and the forthcoming XC60 compact 4x4. The Volvo badge is bigger on the tailgate, too.

Other changes across all the ranges include the fitting of power mirrors with an auto-folding function as standard.

C30
A hard load cover for the boot is now standard on all trims, with a soft version now a no-cost option.

The satellite-navigation system (where fitted) has been revised, with new colours, a new driver interface and a refresh function to the menus and symbols. The system's price has been cut to £1500.

The biggest change, though, is the deletion of the 2.4-litre petrol engine. Prices for the C30 remain unchanged.

S40 and V50
These models get the same improved satellite-navigation system as the C30, and the 2.4-litre petrol engine has also been dropped.

Prices remain the same in most cases, but the S40 and V50 R-Design Sport models increase by £200 while R-Design SE Sport models are cut by £190.

S60
S60 SE Sport models now have an anti-theft alarm, active bending lights and a headlamp cleaning system as standard.

There are price cuts across the whole range, with the entry-level 2.0T SE now costing £19,995.

C70
The improved sat-nav system and keyless drive facility are now available as no-cost options in the C70.

A new Powershift gearbox is also available. This six-speed semi-automatic gearbox is available on the 2.0D model only, and takes the car from 0-60mph in 10.5sec, with average fuel economy of 44.8mpg and carbon dioxide emissions of 167g/km. It costs £1250.

Prices for the C70 remain unchanged.

XC70
SE Lux cars in the XC70 range include active bending lights, heated washer nozzles, load-compensating suspension and revised instrument dials.

The XC70 also gets an updated rear-seat entertainment system, which has larger eight-inch monitors built into the front-seat headrests. A digital TV option is also available.

XC70 prices are unchanged.

S80
Like the XC70, the S80's SE Lux trim gets heated washer nozzles and different instrument dials, and the rear-seat entertainment system.

The S80 is also now available with a turbocharged 2.5-litre FlexiFuel engine, which can run on petrol or E85 bioethanol. It costs £300 more than the standard 2.5T.

There's just one price alteration to the S80 range - the 3.2 Executive model is now cut by £200 to £39,985.

Availability
The 2009-model year Volvos are available to order now, with the first deliveries expected in July.
