Here’s the latest instalment of Mazda’s ‘Nagare’ series of concepts, the Kazamai.
Meaning “swirling crosswinds” in Japanese, the Kazamai is a compact crossover that apparently embodies Mazda’s ‘Sustainable Zoom-Zoom’ philosophy, which aims to strike a balance between driving fun, environmentally-friendliness and safety.
However, the most significant thing about the Kazamai is that it will make its debut at the Moscow Motor Show in August. Russia is now the largest car-buying market in Europe with 3.8million sales expected this year and the Kazamai is proof that the country is now being been as a very important market.
Less groundbreaking is the car itself. While the Kamazai is a bold and intricate design statement, we can’t help thinking that this sixth variation on the Nagare theme does little to move the philosophy on from the original 2006 design.
Please, Mazda, we get it and like it, now just give us a production car version.
