Honda Accord - Sky Drives

The Honda Accord (come on, stay with me) is a good, if a little dull, car that’s proven very popular with middle England. People buy them to use, not to covet. They’re functional, practical, good at holding onto their money and never, ever break.

With this new eighth generation Accord, Honda wants to uproot the car’s semi-premium status and challenge the likes of BMW’s M-Sport as well as the Audi S-line ranges. Seriously? Yep, they’re going for the big guns alright, with the car’s quality (and price) increasing accord-ingly. Sorry….

On the outside
You’ll notice that this new Accord is a much more sporty-looking outfit than the previous generation model, but Honda says that’s what its customers want. In the last year, the Accord Sport GT accounted for 50 per cent of UK sales, hence why this new model has been made wider, lower and more athletic-looking than its predecessor. There is now heaps more rear-view mirror presence.

Just a comment about its cleanliness, yes CO2 has risen slightly and fuel consumption... and both are high compared to BMW.. BUT this car is now EURO5 compliant so virtually choking soot free, lets see what the Germans figures come out when they make theirs EURO 5!!. Euro 5 is so clean it may be possible to sell it in the USA even.

A sporier drive may be what people want. Taking on the might of M-sport is all very well...but a front wheel drive M5? No thank you.

Actually youre wrong,i drive 2.0 l petrol and it is the least thirsty of all competetors,of course if you want 155bhp you have to rev but still over all, city driving country lanes, motorway with auto climate and it still doesnt exceed avg. 9.3 and i happily rev it to 6800 rpm ;)
