Arrived in St. Petersburg in time to catch the UEFA Cup Final where FC Zenit (that happens to be St. Petersburg’s team as well as Russian's premier league champions) beat Glasgow Rangers 2-0 at the City of Manchester Stadium. The streets went mental here, blue and white flags being waved out of every car, drivers permanently blasting their horns down the main high street, Nevskiy Prospekt.
I woke up the next morning a bit late and bleary eyed but was keen to begin my Sky Motoring mission!
In the clear light of day, St. Petersburg is very cosmopolitan so you can find pretty much anything that’s on offer in any other city, except this place benefits from some pretty elaborate architecture. Here I am getting in the way of the Church on Spilled Blood, an Orthodox church that marks the spot where Alexander II was killed by a grenade. Very cultural, however, something that’s slightly less cultured is this town’s lack of concern for parking. There are so many shocking examples on display here, I’ve been forced to compile a list of the five greatest offences. See if you agree with me.
Right, I better go find some pimped up Ladas….
