You’ll be pleased to hear that the Ford Focus RS looks every bit as good in real life as it does in these pictures. We visited Ford’s Heritage Centre in Dagenham for a sneak preview of the car before its official unveil at the British Show.
The car may look like it’s the same colour of pureed Kermit but its actually one of the original RS colours from 1970. So it has some retro cool appeal. The colour hasn’t yet been given the final sign off so if you fancy this treatment on your own Ford Focus RS, then make sure you tell your local Ford dealer.
Other aesthetic touches have been signed off, including the piano black finishes on the side vents, rear diffuser and gaping front air dam. It's a good job because it looks fantastic, although it will probably look better in primary colours than fancy metallic paints.
The performance should also justify the looks. Ford reckons 0-60mph will take less than six seconds and the top speed will be around 150mph. That sounds impressive, especially for a front-wheel drive car, but the best bit is the price. When the Focus RS goes on sale in March next year, it will cost around £25,000. Now that’s a performance bargain in anyone’s book.
