Citroën are hoping to up the ante with its new C5 family car. Its predecessor was an unloved, awkward-looking barge which sold mainly on its heavily discounted prices.
This new model is aiming at the class-leading Ford Mondeo and Volkswagen Passat, as well as keeping an eye on BMW and Audi with the high-end models.

On the outside
In design terms the large family car market is currently the most fertile ground within the industry and the C5 is right at the cutting edge of this zeitgeist; it’s arguably the most avantgarde mass-produced saloon on sale.
It consolidates the high points of Citroën’s quirky heritage with details such as the concave rear window but this time it’s executed with a sense of integrity. While the quality is Teutonic, the flair could not have been delivered from anything other than a Gallic pen.

If you want to stand out from the rep crowd, there’s no better place to put your money.
