James Bond Lotus Esprit Sold at Auction

Bonhams auction house has just sold James Bond’s white Lotus Esprit for £111,500. The 1976 Lotus that appeared in the film The Spy Who Loved Me is probably the second most famous Bond car of all time. Damn you, Aston Martin DB5...

No, not because it was driven by convincing cad Roger Moore, but because this Lotus had been developed by Q branch on one of its better days. Forget oil slicks and armour plating, this thing could turn into an amphibious vehicle.

The car is now off to spend its days in Atlanta, Georgia, though reports that the new owner is attempting to sail his new purchase across the Atlantic remain unconfirmed.

I once worked on this car when it was on loan to the company i worked for at that time for a goodyear tyre promotion back in the mid 80s and i drove it . If i remember rightly 11 body shells where used in the making of the film .i was a young mechanic back then .
