Tesla Roadster - Sky Drives

The Tesla Roadster isn’t just a glorified milk float, it’s the world’s first electric powered, zero emissions sports car. It’s a clever amalgam of Japanese-made lithium-ion batteries (6831 of them in all), Lotus lightweight engineering, and Silicon Valley audacity, designed to make the green age interesting for keen drivers.

On the outside
Looks familiar? Well that’s because essentially, the Tesla Roadster has been developed from the Lotus Elise chassis, which is already a pretty dashing shape (if you ignore the toupee top). The panelling however, though similar, is entirely different and we rather like that integrated spoiler at the rear.

On the inside
There has been a concerted effort to increase the comfort levels of this the cabin which has led Tesla to reshape the bucket seats, lower the door sills and upgrade the interior lining with carpet and carbon fibre. The revisions have worked, creating an attractive environment.

brilliant car,if only the 4hr charge and the 200 miles range was a proven..!!,i would have one tommorow but why is it that any good idea has to cost so much, its probably true that the oil companies are restricting there knowledge of our next fuel to "get us around" until they have used every last drop of oil on the planet...so tesla you drop the price of your eco car to a realistic price and we should see the fat cat oil companies sweat a bit cos if you did do this and aplied your no how to other cars/vans etc more people would buy it and me for one would love to see major oil companies hit the wall

Are we supposed to accept the idea that cars powered by electricity charged from the grid are in some way zero emmissions?? No problem saving the World then we just change evrything to electricity..... Surely a serious commentary from Sky should at the very least make an effort to compare the CO2 produced from the charge required to do 200 miles with the petrol equivalent? Com'on guys and girls, make a serious effort and aim to give proper comparative information to allow proper assessments to be made. Similar story with supposed zero emmissions from pellet boilers - the quotes ignore the energy involved in cutting, pelletising and most importantly drying to circa 10% moisture content before driving it half way across Europe to be burnt. Let's make an effort to get the full story. Any one else out there keen to help get at better info?

People aren't very bright are they? There are massive oil reserves in Alaska but the US is sitting on it knowing that it will increase in value ten-fold without it costing them a penny. The price of fuel will go through the roof, and as tax is % linked, the government coins it in. If anything is invented that runs off water then a water shortage will be announced and that will be taxed, if it runs off electricity then an electricity tax will be introduced, if it runs off thin air then a breath tax will be introduced. Why? The thugs in suits need us to turn raw materials into objects with value, they can then raise tax on what we earn, and tax on what is sold. That money is then sent to Iraq and Afghanistan and burned, at which point we have to work even more to replace it. It's a great population control system. If the carbon emmissions in this country were reduced to zero it would not affect global levels one iota, we occupy 0.02% of the planets surface and we are sparsely populated. We are being conned so that money can be made by somebody, somewhere, and those people are ultimately arms dealers. Sad but true.
