Scion xB Taco and Paint Truck - First Look

If you don’t know, Scion is Toyota’s US only, super-cool brand that allows its customers to buy their cars ready customised. But as good as they might be at enticing US college kids into their cars, this xB-based taco and paint van makes us think that they’d be rubbish at playing word association.

Some things sound right together: tea and biscuits, strawberries and cream, Morcombe and Wise. But ‘taco’ and ‘paint’? That’s like cheese and cake. Cheesecake? No thank you. Except artist and designer Kenton Parker obviously thinks otherwise as he’s been commissioned to create this taco/paint van mashup.

The result is unfathomable yet somehow impossibly cool. After a hard day’s kick flipping, ollying and graffing what more do you want than a piping hot taco and a fresh aerosol?

Yes ok, it’s got niche appeal but it’s refreshing to see a manufacturer actually engaging with its target audience. Just don’t expect to see them on Mallet’s Mallet any time soon.
