Trust Citroën to create a strange (and strangely beautiful) concept car for their stand at next month’s Paris Motor Show. And so we bring you the first pictures of the Hypnos. Following the likes of the BMW X6 and Infinity FX, the Hypnos is a low-slung pseudo-SUV based on the brilliant new C5 saloon. The styling couldn’t come from any other design studio than Citroën’s, although it was actually designed by young Brit, Leanne Early. It builds on the flamboyant style of previous concepts, especially the C-Matisse, although it’s on the inside that things get really trippy. Following on from the C4 Picasso’s mood lighting, the Hypnos’ cabin is a riot of hallucinogenic helices, which appear to offset the occupants. The Hypnos previews the upcoming diesel/electric hybrid system that will appear across the PSA Peugeot/Citroën range over the coming years. There’s no word yet on whether the Hypnos will reach production although rumours are that it could hit showrooms as early as next year.
