Finally, the world's most expensive car breaks cover.
Here are the first official pictures of the Aston Martin One-77, the most expensive Aston ever. These photographs of the finished clay model – yep that’s right, the One-77 doesn’t actually exist yet – were probably on their way to a potential client before being pilfered for our prying eyes.
Aston Martin first teased us with a glimpse of the One-77 at this year’s Paris motor show, but it was like going to see Angelie Jolie in the buff and being offered a glimpse of her knee. There was a bit of blacked-out headlamp, a flash of chrome grille, but that was it really. Now the cloak is fully off, we can take a proper look at that basking shark of a mouth, not to mention the Le Mans-inspired carbon fibre rear diffuser. No doubt all the gaping holes and slashes across the front of the hand-pressed aluminium body provide essential cooling for the new 700bhp, 7.0-litre V12 rump. Just imagine the noise this thing is going to make.
There are no performance figures being thrown about yet, but that isn’t really the point of the One-77 according to Aston CEO Dr. Ulrich Betz. Aston’s chief design director Marek Reichman simply describes this car as “the ultimate expression of power, beauty and soul.” You don’t have to convince us Marek, we’re sold. Well, we would be if we could muster up anything close to the £1.2 million-pound asking price. Before tax.
Contrary to previous reports, our trusty source inside Aston Martin has informed us that the 77 units destined for production have not yet all been sold. He went on to say however, that one happy customer in Dubai, has already stumped up £600k and ordered three cars: one for himself, the other two for his sons. Lucky buggers.
