The problem with ITV and motor racing is the ad breaks. Desperate to sponge the most revenue out of this weekend's Turkish Grand Prix, ITV put an ad break in at lap 33, which made all viewers miss a sensational overtaking monouvre (probably the best move of the race) by Lewis Hamilton on Ferrari driver Felipe Massa. Punters would never allow an ad break to interfere in a half of football so why shouldn't this philosophy be extended to motor racing? Bring on the Beeb's coverage.
Sky is rubbish get over it. It will never get formula 1 and thats that Sky thingks its so good but its self obsessed and hasnt got the crew to produce anything near what the ITV crew do
I agree with Keith, Jon you are in no position to comment on ITV's ad's during breaks, when the channel you work for does exactly the same! For NASCAR and IndyCar, Sky Sports has so many irrating ad breaks - far more than ITV1's F1 coverage. Sky Sports miss crucial bits of motor races on a regular basis. Perhaps you should look at your own channel's problems before commenting on other others. IndyCar should just go to Eurosport, at least they will show every race live. Instead of Sky pissing around with delayed coverage for the majority of the time.
Although F1 is live, live coverage of motor sport is rare - why not record a few more football matches and show them at 2 in the morning as well!
I'm sorry but how can someone who works for Sky lecture others on not ruining racing coverage with ads? Sky put ads in their Indy Car coverage - on the rare occasions they actually show it live these days instead of rubbish NASCAR - and have missed loads of action that way. I do agree that F1 will be better for being on the BBC instead of ITV - or Sky, for that matter.
I couldn't agree more, everything on earth takes second place to football and it's not the first time we have missed the most important event during a race thanks to the adverts! Not to dis the ITV crew :) They do a wicked job and I enjoy their show, but the ads are very very annoying
